Why Microsoft did an fundamental change to AX 2012 (AKA AX 6) architecture?

In this post "Engineering the future, our next milestone…" that was done by Kees Hertogh, Director, Product Management, Microsoft Dynamics AX, Kees is trying to highlight how Microsoft is driving the Generational Shift in ERP by its next release of AX 2012.

This is a loud message from Microsoft express its determination to position itself to be #1 in the ERP market. It reminds me when Microsoft entered into Cloud Computing technology even many companies precede it such as Amazon, IBM, and Google but by its persistence and determination (thanks to the huge R&D budget and its pioneers’ minds) it succeeded to across them and to be ranked as #1.
